When national retailers face integration failures, operational breakdowns, or strategy that isn’t landing — I provide the clarity to move.
I’ve done this at enterprise scale at Kroger across 34+ distribution centers on a CEO-identified initiative, through high-stakes mergers, brand transformations, and strategy pivots that actually stuck.
You’re a director or executive at a national retailer. Your operation is complex, your org has silos, and the pressure is real. You need answers — not frameworks, not decks, not someone who needs six months to get up to speed.
I come in, diagnose the real problem, design the solution, and help you move. If you have a problem worth solving, I can help you solve it.
You have a problem, a bottleneck, or a failure no one can explain. I investigate rigorously and deliver a clear picture of what’s actually happening and why.
“Why isn’t this working?”
Before you invest in a new direction, you need to know it will hold. I test the idea against reality — market conditions, operational constraints, organizational readiness.
“Will this actually work?”
You have a goal. I design the path from here to there — a precise, executable plan that accounts for your culture, your constraints, and the people who have to make it happen.
“What’s the best way to get there?”
“This is Fantastic and Creative!! Well Done and exciting to see. Will be interesting to see how we can scale in other areas and the results over time.”Rodney McMullen — Chairman & CEO, Kroger
Enterprise-scale work across national retail, logistics, and complex organizational challenges.
Designed a previously undefined driver experience into a scalable, measurable service model across 34+ distribution centers. Deployed network-wide in under 8 months.
Advised leadership across organizational boundaries during high-stakes merger. Produced 75% of business process reference documentation. Mitigated service disruption risks before they became costly.
Employee theft reduced from 20% to 0.5%. Absenteeism dropped from 30% to 5%. Bilingual program deployed across 20,000+ employees following acquisition.
Built a strategy precise enough to unify a fractured leadership team and earn Deloitte recognition — by designing around the organization’s culture, not against it.
For over 20 years, Cara has worked exclusively with senior leaders navigating the kind of complex, high-stakes challenges that resist conventional solutions — translating operational ambiguity into strategic direction, executable roadmaps, and measurable outcomes. Her engagements are selective. She does not take on volume. She takes on the right problems.
Her proprietary framework, Service Architecture™, is the discipline of taking something from concept to functioning reality in a way that satisfies a genuine human need, creates measurable business value, and strengthens the ecosystem required to sustain it. Grounded in Service Design methodologies — journey mapping, service blueprinting, systems thinking, and qualitative and quantitative research — it is not a template. It is a structured discipline built inside systems that don’t forgive shortcuts.
At Kroger, Cara was two days into her role when she was handed a problem that had landed in the CEO’s inbox. She solved it — and what followed became a multi-year, enterprise-wide initiative where she served as principal Service Designer, moving driver satisfaction from 36% to 74% and NPS from –36 to +49, earning a personal commendation from the Chairman & CEO and a mandate to expand across the enterprise. She quantified approximately $270M per week in enterprise risk, co-authored the 2024–2027 Transportation Strategy, and was selected for the Kroger–Albertsons merger integration team. Across her career she has secured federal grant funding, launched products into national distribution, and advised organizations ranging from government agencies to growth-stage ventures.
Cara holds an MBA in Design Strategy from California College of the Arts — a program ranked #2 in the world for graduate design, whose curriculum influenced the adoption of human-centered design thinking at institutions including Stanford and Wharton. She also holds a BBA in International Business and Marketing from Howard University.
The best jewelry doesn’t just hold — it survives. A well-set stone, crafted with precision and intention, can be pulled from the ocean floor a century later, still intact, still beautiful, still doing exactly what it was designed to do. Cara brings that same level of craftsmanship to every engagement. What began as learned methodology has, over two decades, converted into something rarer: intuition — the ability to read a system, find its fault lines, and design a solution built to last.
I work with senior leaders who don’t have time for consultants who need to be managed. I come prepared, ask sharp questions, and deliver artifacts executives can act on.
Start the Conversation →We talk. I ask questions that get to the real problem quickly. You leave with more clarity than when we started. No charge for this conversation.
I scope a focused engagement around your specific challenge. Fixed deliverables, clear timeline, no ambiguity about what you’re getting.
Executive-ready artifacts: clear findings, actionable recommendations, and implementation guidance your team can use. The work ends when it’s useful — not when the hours run out.
Engagements are scoped to the problem — not padded to fill a retainer. Fifteen minutes on the phone will tell us both what we need to know.
